POSITION OVERVIEW

We are currently seeking a Chiller Technician to join our fast-growing team in Lebanon, VA. The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude and strong problem-solving skills, as well as a high level of customer service.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform routine, and unscheduled, maintenance and repair of industrial mechanical systems including air cooled chillers, centrifugal chillers, pumps, cooling towers, air handler units, valves, fan coil units, variable air volume systems, etc
  • Diagnose and repair of machine and equipment defects including electronic, mechanical, and electrical components related to these systems
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, general servicing, and troubleshooting of mechanical HVAC systems
  • Responsible for high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on-site, customer interface
  • Mentor peers on mechanical HVAC installation & service activities
  • Properly completes required project and service documentation
  • Service, troubleshoot, and repair commercial/industrial Chiller and Refrigeration Equipment
  • Inspect, Service, Repair, and Modify compressors, evaporators, condensers, pumps, expansion valves, controls
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance
  • Diagnose, repair, and replace defective parts in units
  • Comfortable and knowledgeable in electrical including electrical components, timers, contactors, relays
  • Follow and read blueprints, specifications, wiring diagrams, and instructions

  • Continual learning and development in the body of knowledge through FirstCall Academy, to ensure we set the bar for skill level in the industry
  • Elite level of customer service, to ensure we continue to be the FirstCall our customers make for their HVAC & Refrigeration needs

ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT

This position will report to the local service manager, and has the responsibility to the entire Starnes Inc. team and all of our customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2-5 years of experience
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate, or learn to operate, all necessary tools and equipment
  • Available to work flexible hours and on-call shifts as needed
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Sufficient physical agility to work in awkward places and from ladders or scaffolding as required by particular jobs
  • Physical ability to endure high and low outside temperatures
  • Valid driver's license
  • Active EPA certificate

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate the computer keyboard and telephone, reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.81 - $36.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
